Begin the journey01 / About
I travel for the stories that do not fit neatly into an itinerary.
I'm Benjamin, from Gloucestershire in the UK. Travel, for me, has never really been about ticking off landmarks or following the same route as everyone else.
I tend to be drawn to places that are harder to explain from a distance. Places with a history, reputation or way of life that makes me want to understand them for myself. I like journeys that leave room for the unexpected, where I do not quite know what the story will be until I am there.
That curiosity has taken me from wildlife projects in South Africa to travelling through China and North Korea, on to Mauritania, Afghanistan and other places well outside the usual holiday itinerary.
This site is where I keep the parts worth remembering: the people I meet, the moments I did not plan for and the experiences that stay with me long after I get home. Some are ordinary. Some are anything but. That is part of the reason I keep going.
